Sometimes done is better than perfect, this is a concept that I have started to come to terms with. I can be a perfectionist, and have only recently begun to realise just how much I am. I have these grand ideas when it comes to my work, mainly video as that’s what I’ve been playing with most, and time and lack of experience tend to destroy my grand plans.
But recently I have begun to look at things differently, my time management skills need a lot of work, and this also affects my work as I will put a project aside for months and then get more frustrated when I pick the project back up again. I have several large projects I have been working on and off again all year that I would like to finish up before the end of the year, I know that they will bug me for a long time If they remain incomplete, and this is where the philosophy of “Done is better than perfect” comes in. I get hung up on needing to make things perfect, but a time comes where getting them done is more important, than making them perfect, even just for my own head.
So the plan for the rest of the year is to focus on getting these projects finished, before jumping on to anything else ‘large’, I’ve still got lots of ideas of things I’d like to do, but need to finish my left overs before moving on.
2017 is nearly coming to an end, and the start of 2018 will see my wife and myself heading off on our honeymoon. We’re going to places we’ve been before and new places we haven’t, I am really looking forward to some time away. I’ll make a video of it in some form or another, or I’ll just go to take photos, I haven’t thought that far ahead yet but either way it will be a great trip.
Anyway I think that’s enough rambling for now, sorry that it seems like my latest blogs of been a bit wordy and maybe a little self deprecating, I just find writing these blogs helps me work out what is going on in my head.
Catch you all soon. M
